It used to be that most of my friends used livejournal regularly. Now most seem to have moved on to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or some other personal blog.  I find that I check livejournal less and less.  When I want to post a rant or talk about a more social aspect of my day I think I should post this on Livejournal.  But then I don't find I have the energy or if I do post I choose to make it a private post more for my memory than other's.  I do post regularly on Twitter (which I feed to livejournal, because none of my livejournal friends are on twitter) and on my blog at Candiacrew.com. But for the most part my blog is a little glimpse into our lives rather than a journal.

A couple pieces of news:
-We lost 2 out of 4 of our pets in the last two weeks.  Beavis the cat was hit by a car and Kili the hedgehog died of old age (I have yet to make a post about Kili, but it will be up)
-We have a new housemate.  His name is Ben.  Adam and him seem to be getting along great and have been climbing together a couple times already.
-I'm considering acting as a foster mom for "pregnant teen cat moms", mostly because I want to help the kittens get to the right start.
-My puppy is marvelous, he's been enjoying hiking and going to the beach among other things
-My garden is miserable because we have pretty much seen nothing but rain lately.

So yesterday, Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died. Farrah died of cancer, which she battled in the spotlight for 3 years. MJ however died at the age of 50 from a heart attack. 50 is not old. His death makes me think of our own mortality, the mortality of our parents.

One of the strange things about the death was the attention it got on the social networking sites. Every post in a row seemed to be about how Michael Jackson died. This was on Twitter and Facebook and Tumblr. I just wanted to read something else rather quickly.

Oh well I guess the tabloids will have to find a new weird celebrity to report about.
